Zahra and Maria meet as students in Bucharest at the end of the 1970s, when both their countries stand on the edge of change. After Zahra’s return to Iran and Maria’s decision to remain in Romania, their friendship unfolds through letters that capture the collapse of political systems and the persistence of intimacy.
