La Familia Gitana is a group of young musicians from the Fim do Mundo neighborhood in Cascais. In addition to the blood ties that bind them as a family, it was also their pride in and love for Gypsy music that brought them together in their desire to create a project and spread their culture and traditions further afield.

Inspired by the legacy of their parents and uncles - with whom they so often share the stage - they decided to transform moments of togetherness, the “pândegas,” into moments of sharing with other audiences. They grew, believed in themselves, and after taking their first steps on stage in December 2016 through a community project - O Take.it - where they also rehearsed and created, they went on to participate in a training project - Oficina Portátil de Artes - and from there, they moved on to increasingly prominent stages, diverse audiences, and the opportunity to bring Romani music to more people.
